Ukraine has announced the start of mass production for a new locally engineered interceptor drone to strengthen its aerial protection systems. Three initial producers have begun manufacturing, with an additional eleven getting ready to set up assembly lines, Ukrainian military officials stated on Friday.

'Octopus' Technology Tested in Battlefield Situations

The drones will be based on a nationally created system called “Octopus” engineered to intercept Iranian-made drones. The system underwent testing in actual battle and proved successful “during nighttime, under jamming and flying low,” the ministry stated. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy established a target of manufacturing as many as 1,000 interceptors daily.

Recent Attack on Kyiv Characterized as Calculated

The Ukrainian president characterized Russia’s latest attack on Ukraine as “intentional, premeditated and wicked” following six individuals were killed and dozens injured in a series of nocturnal attacks throughout Kyiv. Air raid sirens sounded in Kyiv just after midnight this past Friday, with Shahed drones soon heard overhead and intensive defensive fire from Ukrainian air defences.

The president stated the nation was targeted by 430 drones and 18 missiles. Those killed were inside their residences in a block of flats on the capital's left bank during the strike. Dozens of additional structures were damaged, among them the diplomatic mission of Azerbaijan.

Diplomatic Objection Following Embassy Destruction

The Azerbaijani government said it delivered a strong protest to Moscow's diplomatic representative this past Friday following the embassy damage. The blast from a Russian Iskander missile demolished a section of the embassy’s perimeter wall and caused serious damage to the embassy grounds, the Azerbaijani foreign ministry stated. There were no personnel injured, and an official representative confirmed the Kyiv embassy was maintaining operations.

Russian Aerial Bomb Manufacturing Experiences Significant Increase

Russia plans to manufacture as many as 120,000 glide bombs in the current year, a senior Ukrainian intelligence official said, among them 500 of an innovative, longer-range version that is capable of targeting additional urban centers. Moscow's military have been launching 200 to 250 aerial bombs per day, with the previous month's daily average being approximately 170, according to official military statistics.

Ukrainian Strikes Focus on Russian Oil Facilities

Moscow's Black Sea port of Novorossiysk temporarily suspended crude shipments this past Friday – equivalent to 2% of global supply – after a strike by Ukrainian forces. Military commanders in Kyiv said its military had launched domestically produced missiles and deployed multiple kinds of attack UAVs in the attack on Novorossiysk “within the framework of efforts to diminish the strategic capabilities of the Russian aggressor.”

Ukraine separately targeted a processing plant in Russia’s Saratov region and a fuel storage facility in nearby Engels during the night.

International Restrictions Affect Moscow's Oil Producer

Russia’s second-largest energy company Lukoil announced on Friday it has been in talks with interested parties concerning its international holdings following last month’s restrictions from Western nations and failure of an agreement with commodity trader Gunvor. “The specific deal will be announced once the final agreements are completed and the necessary regulatory approvals have been obtained,” Lukoil stated.

Ukrainian President Plans Visit to Spain

The Ukrainian leader is scheduled to travel to the city of Madrid, Madrid, on Tuesday to confer with parliament members following his trip to France, the chamber of deputies disclosed. The Ukrainian president will convene with deputies from both chambers of parliament throughout his stay, an official announcement said.
