A plane transporting Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth was required to make an emergency landing in the Britain on Wednesday due to a fissure was found in the plane's windshield, according to an official announcement which verified that Hegseth was safe.

"The aircraft touched down following standard protocol and everyone onboard, including Pete Hegseth, is safe," an official representative stated in a public statement.

The secretary was coming back from a short visit to the city of Brussels during the flight.

This incident isn't the first time that a US military aircraft transporting a high-ranking official has encountered mechanical issues.

In a previous incident this year, a US Air Force plane carrying Marco Rubio to Munich was compelled to turn back to Washington DC after suffering a technical issue.
